Hola todo!!!
So I made it to Lima with no problems. I spent the first two nights in a rather bad hotel in a nice neighborhood. Yesterday, I got my phone which only works internationally to my dad and the US Consulate and works everywhere nationally here in Peru. I had a debit card disaster and went hungry until my dad got off work to take care of the problem...oops. I love the city. It is huge!!! 9 million people not including the suburbs and streets as narrow as those of Western Europe makes for one crowded city with a smog problem around rush hour every night. There is a mall/bar/movie/bowling/everything you need right on a clift by the beach that is packed at night. I spent last night in a pub named El Corner where I watched Obamas speech with people from all around the world...they were very impressed :) I stolled through Miraflores JFK Central Park (yes JFK...i dont understand either) and called it a night around 12AM with just enough time to take a shower before they shut off the hot water for the night. This morning I moved to a new hotel...much nicer for only $5 more a night. Ate at Chili's and going to enjoy the ciesta until later tonight. My Spanish is coming back to me...I try to talk with everyone...every cab driver, bar tender, waitress, desk clerk, etc. I figure everyone has a story and I can learn from hearing it and it is excellent pactice. Its a little exhausting speaking Spanish 24/7 and at times I am struggling by just to understand but endurance will pay off. It is very warm here...about 80 degrees, very humid, and no air conditioning ANYWHERE. Next week, I start school and move in with my new family. I will be updating you guys then.
